End of Season wrap-up. Our U-11 hurlers finished off their season training last Wednesday week after four weeks of indoor hurling in Old Christians. The surprise on the night was the arrival of five key members of our new Country Intermediate Champions with the cup. The players of Colm Moriarty, Conor O’Brien, Patrick Begley, Brian Barry and Declan Browne spent time with the players talking about the importance of continuous training and working on the skills of hurling. They took time out for group and individual photos with the players and sent time talking to some of the parents. Thanks to the players and wishing them all the best in Premier Intermediate for next year.
The U-11 players had a great year this year. The coaches setup to further develop their skills while also trying players on in various positions on the playing field. The team took part in the U-12 Spring league under floodlights during very cold spring evenings, thanks to Kevin O’Hagan. Here they played 7 games and were undefeated in all games with all players taking part. The players contested in the U-11 hurling league where they got the opportunity to play new teams such as Kilmallock, Cois Laoi Gaels, Ahane  and the usual suspects of Na Pairsaigh and Monaleen. Again the players played great skillful and hard hurling to come away undefeated. During the year the team played a number of challenges against Na Pairsaigh, Monaleen and Sixmilbridge and won. We were invited to participate in a great tournament in Sixmilbridge. We brought 24 players which enable us to have two teams performing against Sixmilbridge, Conlara and Eire Og, Ennis. Our White team were beaten in the A final against a strong Eire Og, Ennis team and the Red team lost to Sixmilbridge in the C final. Thanks to Sixmilbridge for the invitation and organising a great tournament.
10 of the panel had the opportunity to participate in the U-12 hurling and U-13 A&C hurling teams. Thanks to Kevin O’Hagan and Mike Fitzgerald. All players accounted themselves exceptionally well at the 15 a-side game and had the privilege of being key members of the U-12 panel that won the Liam O’Donoghue Hurling tournament held in Mungret.
Thanks to Donie Browne, Joe Browne, Seamus Hayes, Sean Ahern, Brian O’Halloran, Vince Bolger for their support during the year in providing equipment, refereeing games and approving challenge games. Thanks to all the coaches Mike Galligan, Kevin Baggott, Denis Moloney, Kieran O’Brien, Paul Walsh, Rory Duff and Fintan Hynes.
